Paperback Pre-Orders are here!

Website Cover3

Happy April, readers! I hope you all had a fantastic Easter! I enjoyed time with family celebrating Jesus’s resurrection, a birthday party, and welcoming a new member into our church community. If you’re Catholic like me, the Easter season continues until Pentecost on June 5, so my family’s celebrations will continue all month long.

And speaking of things to celebrate…

For a Noble Purpose is Complete!

for-a-noble-purpose-quotes-9-1

There are less than 5 weeks until the release of For a Noble Purpose and I can happily say that it is completely finished and ready for my launch team to review. They’ll be receiving their copies soon, but I want to give an advanced thank you to the many readers who have already been posting about the release on social media. I am so very grateful for your support!

Which leads to another reason to celebrate…

Book 2 is Already Underway!

i-am_nah-V_kFY0pSpPs-unsplash

Now that For a Noble Purpose only has a few last administrative and marketing tasks to tie up, it’s time to focus on the next book in the Larksong Legacy series, Dusk Shall Weep. At this point, the outline is done and about 15% of the book is drafted. My ambitious goal is to finished drafting by early fall for a winter 2023 release date.

Since it’s rude to include too much information when For a Noble Purpose isn’t even out yet, I’ve included a photo by I.Am_Nah on Unsplash which encompasses some of the mood experienced in the story. The book begins in 1853 on the Southern Washington coast with a tale of pioneer hardships, romance, and secrets. Two of the characters from For a Noble Purpose lead the tale, but the question is, who are they?

And finally, our last reason to celebrate…

Paperback Pre-Orders and Direct Buys are Here!

Over the past two years, during a time when we couldn’t hold in-person book signings,  so many of you asked me how to pre-order paperbacks and how to buy copies directly from me. So, I took some time and looked into possible options for offering you exactly that.

Good news! I now offer the ability to purchase pre-orders, eBooks, paperbacks, and discounted book bundles through my online store, all with free shipping for U.S. residents. (Sadly, shipping to Canada and Europe is about $30USD for one book.) Plus, all future promotions will now be reserved just for my newsletter subscribers, using coupon codes posted only in my newsletter.

To celebrate the launch of For a Noble Purpose on June 7, 2022, you can get 10% off everything on the site using the code Larksong10 at checkout. This includes the already discounted eBook pre-order price, a deal not available on other retail sites. Price will increase after launch on June 7, so make sure to snag this deal while it lasts.

Friday Fiction What to Read

Happy Friday, readers! Who needs some spring reads? Here are my reading favorites from January through March with five to choose from! Did any of these make your list?

~ Kelsey

A Tapestry of Light by Kimberly Duffy

Historical Fiction – 1886 India and England

A Tapestry of Light is a beautiful journey of faith, family, and love, weaving two cultures together in a breathtaking performance. I knew little about Indian culture prior to reading this novel, but every word brought 1880’s Calcutta to life. The main character, Ottilie, lives in this world of her mother, but also lives in the English world of her father, while her dual heritage means she truly belongs to neither. A tragic life has left her faith wounded, almost beyond repair. It is only by stepping forward, collecting one small mustard seed of belief at a time, that she is finally able to find a family and a place where she truly belongs.

The Curse of Misty Wayfair by Jaime Jo Wright

Dual Timeline – 1908 and Present Day Wisconsin

If you’re looking for a creepy ghost story that isn’t quite the ghost story you’re expecting, The Curse of Misty Wayfair is for you. This story switches between past and present day in Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin, a town with more tragedies than there are people. Meet a century long family feud, a ghost-imposed curse, an unsolved murder, and strange goings-on at the local abandoned asylum. Jamie Jo has an art of stringing every detail and character together, wrapping you so deep in the story that you don’t want to put it down.

The Mobster’s Daughter by Rachel Scott McDaniel

Historical Fiction – 1920s Pittsburgh

The Mobster’s Daughter weaves a race against time story with romance and faith, drawing the reader through the twists and turns of 1920’s Pittsburgh. Although a relatively quick read, it had me guessing until the end. The romance plays out such that you want them to be together, but completely understand the reasons why they hold themselves back. I enjoyed seeing them grow and could feel their angst within some morally challenging decisions. They had a secret chemistry that really shined. The final suspenseful chapters leave the reader with a nicely packaged ending, but perhaps not with all the strings attached as expected.

Where the Last Rose Blooms

Dual Timeline – 1861 Charleston, SC and Present Day New Orleans, LA

Where the Last Rose Blooms travels between Alice, a flower shop owner in New Orleans whose mother went “missing” during Hurricane Katrina and Clara in 1861, an obedient Southern daughter who uses her upbringing in order to spy for and further the abolitionist cause. I found the incorporation of the language of flowers most interesting, whether used as secret codes for war secrets or to send a special message (or a not so special one) to a romantic pursuit. Also, no spoilers, but part of the book deals with depression, and I thank Ashley Clark for including the issue in a relatable and compassionate way.

Compared by Kortney Keisel

Contemporary Romance

With her signature wit, relatable emotions, and steamy yet clean romance, Compared is a delightful story between Tyler, a widower and his son’s school teacher, Meg, who has recently lost her mother and her father is starting to date again. Meg and Tyler played perfectly together despite the complications standing in their way. Every one felt like a legitimate barrier, rather than the eyerolling drama some romances provide. The way that Tyler and Meg’s grief is expressed felt like friends who understood exactly what I had experienced. You could tell that Kortney Keisel poured herself into this story, and I think this made the emotions of Compared all the richer and relatable.

Launch Team Last Chance + Cover Update

Website Cover3

Happy March, readers! This month, you may have noticed my sudden lack of social media posts after posting nearly every day for months. With all the craziness in life – and a nudge from our parish priest’s homily – I decided to stop posting during Lent to allow myself time to reflect. For Christian Fiction authors, marketing is a delicate balance. We obviously want to sell books, we want people to enjoy them, and good reviews and social media engagement are absolutely key to achieving that. Yet, at the same time, our true purpose shouldn’t be the applause of our audience, but bringing them hope and faith, honoring God rather than ourselves.

What I Will Be Posting

New Releases (6)

While I won’t be posting on my own social media pages, I will continue to support my fellow writers by sharing their stories. On March 28 at 8pm EST / 7pm CST, I will be hosting an Instagram Live Q&A with Kimberly Duffy for the @faithandfictionbookclub quarterly read. We will discuss her book, A Tapestry of Light, a beautiful story mixing 1880’s Indian and British influences within a tale of love, family, and faith. Q&A is open to all.

I’d also like to congratulate B.M. Baker on her book, The Trumpeter’s Forever Promise, which launches today! I am really looking forward to reading this modern-day marriage of convenience story.

Lastly, in April, I will have the honor of beta reading for Jennifer Q. Hunt, Susan Laspe, and Tanya E. Williams. Their new books will release later this summer/fall, so now is a great time to pick up their back list.

For a Noble Purpose Cover Update

Launch Team Applications (3)

After it was brought to my attention that the model on my cover didn’t have a face (whoops!), I did another evaluation of the entire cover. The feel is the same, but with a few changes. Other than giving her a face, her skirt is fuller, the bottom embellishment is now blue, the words have been given a little pop, and Hawthorn blossoms were added to her hair (in honor of her hometown, Hawthorn Ridge). Many, many thanks to my beta readers and Christian Mommy Writers group who provided initial feedback. Now, it’s your turn. What do you think of the changes?

Last Chance! – For a Noble Purpose Launch Team

Want to read For a Noble Purpose before its release on June 7, 2022? Applications for my launch and influencer teams close on April 1. There are two available teams: one for those willing to read and review and one for those without time to review, but would still like to post about the release. Advance copies will be sent to launch team members after May 1.

Apply to the Launch Team

Or if you’d rather skip the launch team and just read the book, you can pre-order below:
